Tension and release are indispensable components of a good story, but pop news site BuzzFeed took the concept to a new level overnight, captivating a massive internet audience with an epic attempt to explode a watermelon.More than 800,000 people who had nothing better to do tuned in to the live Facebook broadcast to watch a pair of alleged journalists place 686 rubber bands around the large fruit until it burst.And burst it did after 45 minutes of viewers watching a stationary melon.So far the vid has clocked up about 6m views.Here's a truncated version of the clip, with some more fruity antics thrown in for good measure.
