According to authority officials, the park site will have a cycle track, walkway, water bodies and an amphitheatre, among other facilities, and will serve as an ideal picnic spot for residents of the newly-developed housing societies that will surround the park.
“The horticulture department has sent the `50-crore budget to the finance department a green signal to the budget, we will float tenders for development of the park. We hope to begin work on the ground in the next three months,” said Omvir Singh, director of horticultureFinancial vetting of all big projects is done for transparency purposes, officials said.
According to officials, the proposed cycle track and walkway will be of 5 kms each and the two water bodies will be spread over an area of two acres each. The open-air theatre will be available for recreational events for visitors.
The 75-acre biodiversity park will have fruit trees, unlike other existing parks in the city that have more ornamental varieties.
