The Supreme Court ordered the government not to give amnesty of UCPN-Maoist leader Balkrishna Dhungel convicted in the murder of Ujjain Shrestha of Okhaldhunga. A constitutional bench of the apex court ruled that balkrishna dhungel, sentenced to life imprisonment for the 1998 murder by the Okhaldhunga District Court, could not be pardoned for the crime. It is noted that local people’s attempts to bring the forest fire under control have become a failure.Bhattarai-led government had argued that balkrishna dhungel’s case should be dealt by the transitional justice mechanism, claiming that the matter was political in nature and Balkrishna Dhungel was granted amnesty by Baburam Bhattarai-led government who was convicted of the murder of Ujjan Shrestha of Okhaldhunga district. Against the decision, Shrestha’s sister Sabitri had filed a petition at the apex court demanding action against Balkrishna Dhungel as ordered by the Okhaldhunga District Court earlier. According to the Supreme Court assistant spokesperson Bishwaraj Paudel, a constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha and Justices Sushila Karki, Baidya Nath Upadhyaya, Gopal Parajuli and Om Prakash Mishra pronounced the verdict on Sabitri’s side<span style="background-color: white; color: #6f7779; font-family: "noto serif" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.4px;">.

DARHARA OF NEPAL FALLING DURING EARTHQUAKE

The earthquake had triggered an avalanche and a landslide which had buried the entire place underwho knows how many hundreds of thousands of tonnes of rocks and boulders, and snow and ice.The locals here are ethnically Tibetan. They’re tough mountain people but as we hiked down from where the helicopter had dropped us, everyone I spoke to burst into tears.

“We have lost everything,” Dendup Lama told me, his eyes red raw. “Everyone has lost family here.”
Just one house remained, sheltered under a great shoulder of rock
Vladimir Putin’s announcement took many with close links to the military hierarchy by surprise and some observers question if it’s even real
Russian President Vladimir Putin meets with Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu at the Kremlin in Moscow on Monday. Photograph: Mikhail Klimentyev/AFP/Getty ImagesFive and a half months, 9,000 fighter jet sorties, a reprieve for Bashar al-Assad’s regime, the downing of a Russian passenger jet over Egypt and the end forever of the burgeoning bromance between the Turkish and Russian presidents: thus goes the summary of Russia’s intervention in Syria, which has irrevocably changed the contours of the five-year-old conflict and its surrounding geopolitics.
“I consider the objectives that have been set for the Defence Ministry to be generally accomplished,” Vladimir Putin announced matter-of-factly on Monday evening, announcing the imminent withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria. The vaguely stated objective of “fighting terrorism”, so conducive to mission creep and unfinishable wars, has clearly not been accomplished. Isis, after all, is still very much there.
