Shani is dreaded by Hindus, especially by those who believe in astrology. Many people observe an Upvaas or fast to avoid the adversities and misfortunes on Shanivar or Saturday. It is believed that those who have the blessing of Lord Hanuman are protected from the wrath of Shani. Therefore many people make it a point to worship Hanuman at home or in temples. Black is the preferred color on Thursday. Shani, one of the Navagrahas, is worshipped in numerous temples and there are also temples exclusively dedicated to Sani. Devotees who are observing Shanivar Vrat usually visit Shani shrines. Black colored items like sesame til, sesame oil, black clothes, and black gram whole are offered to Shani. It must be noted here that the color of the idol of Shani is always black in color. Those devotees who fast on Saturday only take a single meal that too in the evening after prayers. Food prepared usually consis ts of sesame til or black gram or any other black colored food item. Salt is avoided by many on the day.</div>

Government officials, diplomats and ordinary people gathered at the remains of a fallen iconic tower in the Nepalese capital on Sunday to mark the anniversary of a devastating earthquake that killed thousands and injured many more in the Himalayan nation. Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli laid a wreath at the ruins of the Dharahara tower in the heart of Kathmandu. The structure collapsed on April 25 last year, killing 132 people. "I lost a friend who was working at the top of the tower on that day. I hope he and others are in a good a place," said Ram Shrestha. He said that he had just stepped out a few minutes before the earthquake to go shopping and survived. Madhav Newpane, who runs a shop near the tower, witness its collapse. He returned on Sunday with a bouquet of flowers and candles."There were many people killed here on that day. I will never be able to forget that day," said Newpane<br />Buddhist monks also gathered at the Kathmandu Durbar Square to pray for nearly 9,000 people killed in the earthquake and aftershocks. Nepal is under criticism for the slow reconstruction of the nearly 1 million houses despite foreign donors already pledging $4.1 billion in aid. Millions of people remain homeless. A small group of about 20 protesters dressed in black took to the streets, chanting slogans criticizing the slow pace of rebuilding. In a latest report, Rekha has composed a song of her upcoming movie ‘Rampyari’ and has directed singer Rajesh Payal Rai from the USA. The recording of the song titled ‘Arko June Kunni Bhet Huni Ki Nahune …’ was recorded on the voice of Rai on July 7 in Musician Studio, Kathmandu.<br />
The song features singer Manisha Pokharel with Rajesh Payal Rai. While the music is composed by Rekha, words in the song is written by Kiran Kharel. Musician Rekha had directed the recording through online chatting software, Viber. In her Facebook post, Rekha has stated that the movie is ‘coming soon.’<br />

The movie ‘Rampyari’ is to be directed by Shabir Shrestha and features Rekha Thapa with her nephew, Avash Adhikari. The recording of the songs of the movie had started before the April 25 earthquake and had halted because of the earthquake.</div>

Sher Dhan Rai is CPN-UML politburo member, Minister of Information and Communication Technology and Spokesperson of the Government of Nepal. Rai, who started politics from early school days and continued since is an inspirational figure for   many youth. Rai, who assumed leadership of Bhojpur district for long before ascending to the Central Committee of party, believes in politics of dedication and continuity.<br />
Sher Dhan Rai was born to a peasant family on February 23, 1971 in Pasalbhanjyang of Thidingkha VDC, south of Bhojpur district of Nepal.  His father is Jagir Man Rai and mother Ramri Maya Rai. Father Jagir Man was elected village chief unopposed for three times during the Panchayat period. This trend continued even after the onset of multiparty democratic system. Jagir Man served as unopposed elected village chief for two terms post-democracy. His commitment to serve villagers and work for public welfare established him as a permanent representative of people of his village. Jagir Man and Ramri Maya still live in the village. Sher Dhan is only son to his parents. He has two sisters. Sher Dhan is still a bachelor.<br />
School life<br />
Sher Dhan received primary education from the village itself. He studied up to grade seven at Sikhsya Jyoti Lower Secondary School. He was good at study and was also fond of volleyball. He started playing volleyball from the early age of ten and grabbed district champion title in few years.<br />
He played in the regional volleyball tournament on behalf of the remote hill district. His maternal uncle, late Dhikalsingh Rai who served in the British Gurkha, had gifted him volleyball for his fondness for this sport. Rai cherishes those moments even today.<br />
<br />
After the grade seven studies, he had to go farther to attend higher grade school. So after he completed lower secondary education, he enrolled in Sagarmatha Secondary School Godhetar, which is situated in Ranibari VDC. Since it was far from his home, he rented a room there and stayed in Ranibari itself. Rai passed his SLC from this school in 198<span style="background-color: #f1f1f1; color: #323232; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22.8571px;">6.</span></div>

It is easy to understand why Langtang is such a popular destination for trekkers. The valley is breathtakingly beautiful. The crashing river that carved it out snakes through the high Himalayas, a pine forest on either side.<br />
But I was anxious as I flew back in a small helicopter a few days ago. The last time I had been here I had found a community in terrible trauma.<br />
<br />
The main town, also called Langtang, had been utterly destroyed. The scale of the devastation was so complete it was hard to work it out when flying over it. My eyes were drawn to the wreckage of the buildings standing on a small hill, not to the great plume of debris fanning out into the valley.<br />
But that was where the busy little tourist town had been.<br />
<br />
The earthquake had triggered an avalanche and a landslide which had buried the entire place under who knows how many hundreds of thousands of tonnes of rocks and boulders, and snow and ice.The locals here are ethnically Tibetan. They’re tough mountain people but as we hiked down from where the helicopter had dropped us, everyone I spoke to burst into tears.<br />
<br />
“We have lost everything,” Dendup Lama told me, his eyes red raw. “Everyone has lost family here.”<br />
Just one house remained, sheltered under a great shoulder of rock.</div>

A rape case was registered in the case. Since the accused was then a juvenile, he was finally presented before the court recently. The father set up a meeting with the accused on the pretext of case settlement and then chopped off his hands.<br />

Nepal unveiled ‘smart’ driving licence that have chips to store driver data among other security features. ecretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Tulasi Prasad Sitaula and Madhu Sudan Burlakoti, director general at the Department of Transport Management said the government has signed an agreement with India’s Madras Security Printers to change the existing driving license. Last March, the DoTM and Madras Security Printers Pvt Ltd signed the contract for printing 160,000 smart cards. In the contract, DoTM has also asked the company to install all the networking devices. The new system will also link to an electoral system as part of a 150 million Nepalese Rupees (US$1.5 million) grant assistance plan from the Asian Development Bank.</div>

Marines with III Marine Expeditionary Force are tasked to execute operations in the mountainous jungle vegetation of the Philippine island region of Luzon. Marines in the jungle can find themselves facing more adversaries than just the enemy– heat, weather and lack of food or water can be the deciding factor between living and dying.<br /><br />Marines with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III MEF, went through the Philippine Marine Corps’ Force Reconnaissance Jungle Environment Survival Training from Sept. 29-30, 2015, to learn how to increase their survivability in the jungle as part of Amphibious Landing Exercise 2015. The Philippine Marines taught U.S. Marines how to use their surrounding environment to catch food, find water and build shelter to survive.<br /><br />This jungle survival training is a key part of PHIBLEX 2015, which is an annual, bilateral training exercise conducted by U.S. Marine and Navy Forces with the Armed Forces of the Philippines in order to strengthen our interoperability and working relationships across a wide range of military operations — from disaster relief, to complex expeditionary operations.<br /><br />“There are three essential elements of jungle survival; shelter, food and water,” said Philippine Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Bimbo Busico, a jungle survival instructor assigned to Headquarters and Training Company, Marine Special Operations Group.<br /><br />Philippine Marines with 64th Force Reconnaissance Company, Marine Special Operations Group, trained the U.S. Marines on the basics of jungle survival, giving them hands on learning experience that is important to their success in their current area of operations.<br /><br />“Since our area of responsibility is mostly jungle, we have to operate in this environment,” said U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. NEPAL GOVERMENT MOVE TO FREE VISA

The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) has been mulling over revising the service fees of manpower agencies for effective implementation of ‘free visa, free ticket’ provision and has told manpower firms that the government will strictly monitor the firms and take action as per the law if any are found to be violating the rules.<br /><br />Along with the government’s move, the dispute between the MoLE and manpower agencies may finally be drawing to an end, with the latter agreeing to effectively implement the ‘free visa, free ticket’ provision. During discussions held today, however, the manpower agencies have demanded moderate hike in service fees from the existing Rs 10,000 to implement the provision, which was introduced by the earlier government.<br /><br />The talks between the manpower firms and the MoLE today were held in the presence of Minister for Labour and Employment Deepak Bohara. In the meeting, Minister Bohara asked the manpower firms to implement the ‘free visa, free ticket’ provision effectively without cheating the outbound workers.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Around 20 police personnel including those in civvies held him from Patan Dhoka in Lalitpur district. <br /><br />The anti-graft body has been probing the property details of Dixit on suspicion of amassing property disproportionate to his known source of income. He is also the chairman of Sajha Yatayat. <br /><br />"We have arrested the Sajha Yatayat Chairman Dixit not the journalist to investigate his involvement in corruption," said CIAA spokesperson Krishna Hari Pushkar. <br /><br />In a statement on Friday, the CIAA said Dixit was arrested according to CIAA Act 2048 (1991) Section 19.1 (c) for his defiance and non-cooperation in its investigation despite repeated notice to appear before the commission.<br /><br />The anti-graft body said the property details submitted by Dixit on Jan 24, 2016, didn’t match with the various documents provided by various concerned bodies after its enquiry. <br /><br />The Act allows the CIAA to issue an order to the police to arrest and produce in the court the person who fails to be present in the Commission within the stipulated time after receiving notice.<br /><br />Earlier, Dixit had appeared before the CIAA on Jan 8. <br /><br />Dixit was among the 29 high-ranking personalities summoned by the CIAA in December last year.<br /><br />"My arrest was a part of vendetta for having opposed his [Lokman Singh Karki] appointment to the CIAA Chief's post in the past," Dixit told the Post over phone from CIAA custody. "It's against the Supreme Court order issued by then Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha."  He added that SajhaYatayat is not a public institution but a cooperative and the CIAA's action is politically motivated. <br /><br />The CIAA said it has been investigating complaints against Dixit that he amassed illegal property by abusing his public post, and bought house and land in USA and transferred the ownership of the land registered in the name of Madan Sumsher Rana and Jagadamba Rana. <br /><br />Miffed by the CIAA move, Dixit had moved the Supreme Court (SC) in December arguing that the anti-graft body breached its jurisdiction and violated the investigation process without mentioning particular charges. CIAA officials had handed over a summon letter to Dixit at the Tribhuvan International Airport while he was about to board a flight to Delhi. <br /><br />Responding to the writ, SC had ordered the CIAA to abide by the legal procedure while conducting its investigation. <br /></div>
